Happy Birthday, America!

Hooray for the red, white and blue! Okay, we've had our camera for years now, and last night was the first time I figured out that it has a self timer! Now we can all be in more pictures! Happy 4th everyone! This is my country, land that I love. I cried all through sacrament meeting on Sunday because all of the music was patriotic. My favorite: "America, the Beautiful." The verse that really choked me up:
O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
It's so true. Some of us can't understand why someone would join the armed forces, but our soldiers understand more than the average American. They know that they are a part of something bigger than themselves, and they are willing to do what it takes to protect our freedom here in America. I don't have a clue how it feels to live in a town destroyed by bombing, or to be on alert 24/7 in case another bomb strikes. I've always had food on the table, running water, electricity, and I'm surrounded with love. I need to remind myself more often of how blessed I am.

You are so right Stacy. We get caught up in our daily lives and begin to take everything we have for granted. Thanks for the reminder!

I love a camera with a self timer. It really opens up a world of possibilities...cute picture, too.
I love the patriotic songs, too. The primary sang them, and I just had to listen, because it truly is moving to really think about what the 'fourth of July' and being a citizen of our country means for us and implies for those who have made it so.
