Oh What a Glorious Day!
Trust me, I have a list of bad things I could go on and on about, BUT one miraculous thing happened this evening that I have to share. I was going through the nightly routine with Afton. I was on the final stretch nursing her before bed, hoping that Ayden would continue with his homework and that Ian with his nekked self wouldn't poop in a corner somewhere. I was just about to put Afton in her crib when Ian came pushing his potty down the hall saying, "Wook at the toiwet, Mommy. It's got poo in it!" I hurried and put Afton down to see if he was pulling my chain or not. He was NOT! There it was. I won't go into detail about this part, but I was THRILLED and told him over and over how happy I was. Ayden had to come see it and celebrate with us. We flushed it down the real toilet and I told Ian if he keeps this up he will get a BIG PRIZE. Then a few minutes later HE POOPED AGAIN! Apparently he wasn't finished the first go 'round. More excitement, more flushing, more candy. Oh what a great night after only two days of training. Again, I don't expect perfection, but Ian is definitely on the right track. Tomorrow I'm going to put training undies on him. I don't want to use pullups. These are just cotton undies made a little thicker to absorb any accidents. It will drip down his legs if he goes on himself, which I'm hoping will quickly teach him to go to the potty like he has been doing so well bare bottomed. We'll see if he can rise up to the next challenge. I'm so excited. Who knew that poop could be so exciting?!

Potty Biz
Our new approach for Ian to get ready for potty training is school. He has to be potty trained by this August. A lot of potty training involves me being willing to keep a watchful eye on him and stay home all morning for DAYS until he is ready for public appearances. So, we're in potty boot camp. I have him "nakey" from his waist down and the potty is right in front of the tv, so he can sit there and watch "Shaun the Sheep" episodes. He went number 1 once already and came to me all excited. When I was cleaning it up he asked if he can go to school now. I had to explain to him that he's not quite there yet, poor guy!
As I'm typing this, Afton is inch worming her way to me! She's getting to be very mobile and can find the smallest legos/lite brite pieces/pixos possible. Okay, she's mad-gotta go.
***Update***
After day 1 he just now felt that he had to go, stopped what he was doing and went to the toilet! He went in his potty all day-except when we went grocery shopping-with only one accident!! I think he's ready for this, but I'm not going to have any expectations.

Happy Fat Tuesday!!
I made Saints clothes for the whole fam. to wear to the parade. Too bad we didn't get to show it off, b/c of the COLD weather. I added a fabric fleur-de-lis and ruffle butt to black clothes Afton already had.
Josh found a great deal on a Cricut machine for me and I got it for V-Day. I immediately put it to work and made shirts for us all.
Josh's was made by my own handwriting and a pair of scissors. It was hard work. That Cricut machine makes things so much easier.
We went to the truck parades in Metairie. They are family friendly and they LOVE kids/babies. Josh just sat in a chair with Afton and the stuffed animals came flying. Ayden took 22 stuffed animals to give to his classmates today, and we still have about ten or so left! At 5 years of age Ayden finally experienced his first Mardi Gras parade. We all had a great time. We went with Robin & Brent, our friends the Kemps, and our friend Lindsay and all accompanying children. Total in our group: 7 adults & 8 children. We were so loaded down with junk, it was ridiculous! We had a lot of fun!! We found a great spot right by a group of people with Saints/Mardi Gras music playing and we were near a "pot o'gold" in case of emergencies. Everyone was sporting their black and gold to show their excitement for the Saints. Oh, AND Rachel Ray was the Captain of the first parade, so it was cool to see her and her husband up close. Now we are trying to recover from all of the excitement.

Today Is the Big Day
Today Ian is officially three years old. I feel like he should be turning four, because he's such a big kid and he does everything his big brother does. Ian weighs 39 pounds-only one pound less than Ayden-and is 38 inches tall. Like I said, big kid. He still LOVES trucks and every other type of vehicle ever invented. If it has wheels or wings, he will play with it for hours. He has a sweet little personality for the most part, but can be quite the little grump. He growls when he's aggravated and makes himself into dead weight in protest. He loves pushing his dump truck and cozy coupe up and down the sidewalks. Every piece of paper he comes across is a "ticket". He can't wait to go to the "new school that's orange" with Ayden-he'll be going next year and Ayden will be right across the hallway from him. He lives and breathes chocolate milk. He helps with laundry and dishes. This kid is the perfect fit in our little family. We love you, Ian! Have a fantabulous day.Sunday, February 14, 2010
Our V-Day
I attempted a photo shoot with the kids after church. Hungry kids with too much sugar in their system in the late afternoon is not a good combination for such a task.Saturday, February 13, 2010

Superbowl Mayhem.
This is what I discovered in the boys' room while the adults were out in the living room enjoying the game.I had to run for the camera.
Later on that evening:Ian was so excited about the Saint's victory, he went streaking around the house.
FYI: I made a super cute black and gold outfit for Afton that lasted about 5 minutes before she yacked all over it. I'll post a picture of her wearing it when I get around to the laundry.
Two Rights and One SO WRONG!
I was so tired this morning from all of yesterday's excitement that I executed an early 10am nap time for Ian, Afton, and myself. Thank goodness they cooperated. I couldn't function. I have some interesting Superbowl predictions for you:

The giraffe pictured above predicted the Saints to beat the Colts AND Madden 2010's game predicted the same. To read about the giraffe go HERE, and for the game go HERE. I am so glad they were right!!!!
Now for the WRONG ANSWER given by the president of the United States:
WASHINGTON (AP)—President Barack Obama says the Indianapolis Colts “have to be favored” in the Super Bowl, even though he has a “soft spot” for the New Orleans Saints.
Obama’s Super Bowl prediction was based on his opinion that the Colts have “perhaps the best quarterback in history.”
“Peyton Manning(notes) is unbelievable,” the president told CBS’ Katie Couric during a live pre-game interview.
Still, Obama says he has a soft spot for New Orleans, “mainly because of what the city has gone through over these last several years” since Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.
Obama says he may be biased against the Colts, since they beat his hometown Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl in 2007.
LAME.

Valentine's Day Dress
I made Afton this dress from a pattern by myself with only a few phone calls to my mom and a little research online-I didn't know what "basting" meant and had a vague memory of "selvage" that turned out to be correct. Mom talked me through a few things that I had frustrations with. Probably about 5 phone calls total. I had a lot of interruptions with a husband out of town and 2 sick kids running fever and needing breathing treatments every 4 hours. At one point the dress mysteriously traveled into the fridge. In the end I was so proud of myself to have a finished product just in time for V-Day. I might look into making a little red cardigan, some matching crib shoes, and some sort of head decoration. First I have to get this house back in order.
