Ian's Hair Salon?

After my race Saturday morning, we were busy getting ready to travel to New Orleans for Nana's (Josh's grandmother's) 80th birthday party. Ian and Afton were playing so well together, so we weren't too concerned about what exactly they were up to. I heard them in her room, Ian humoring her by playing with her vanity/keyboard. Again, I was preoccupied trying my hardest to get ready fast and also prepare some food that we were bringing for the party. The door to Afton's room was closed. I still thought nothing of it. After all, they were getting along great last I heard. It happened so fast. I heard Josh first, then I saw Afton and her BUTCHERED HAIR! Ian said she asked for him to fix her hair just like Cinderella, so he went and grabbed the kitchen scissors and chopped away. She had one long strand left, that I had to cut. I studied her hair closely, considering whether or not I could try to fix it myself because of the time crunch. It was still okay in the front-thank goodness-so I could see the potential in an a-line style to blend the SUPER SHORT hair with the waist-length-turned-shoulder-length-hair. I changed that thought quickly and while Josh took care of scolding Ian, I raced Afton to a children's salon a few blocks away. Thank goodness they had an opening and saved her hair as best as they could. After all of that, we were still only 30 minutes late for the party. I think I'm still in shock. I haven't shed tears, but it was emotional for me this morning when she woke up with bed head and the back of her hair stood straight up. I had to wet it down, then SPRAY it down. Oh how those curly locks will be missed. My coping skills tell me it could have been worse. I've seen a lot of little girls with a chunk of their bangs cut to their scalp. This cut was at least somewhat salvageable. Afton always called her hair "Punzel" hair, so now we call it "Snow White" hair because she's the only princess with short hair. Actually, I just remembered that Rapunzel had her hair cut short in the end. A HA! Now I can use that story too! Sweet.

Here is the best picture I could find to show the "before"...

Here is Afton waiting her turn at the salon with Ian's idea of Cinderella hair.

...and here we have the "after"

It's a good thing she's so adorable that it doesn't matter what hairstyle she sports!

Goodbye hair that was never cut until now.
We'll keep you for a somber remembrance of days gone by.

hahaha!! That is hilarious! I didn't know Ian was a stylist. Man, his list of talents keeps getting longer and longer.
Her new look is very cute if you ask me. Those locks will be back before you know it.

Awww... While I do think she had awesome locks... I LOVE her hair short. But then again I'm a HUGE fan of short hair. Seriously she looks so adorable. I can't wait to see it in person. Love it! And the story!
