A Perfect Smile!

Ayden showing his teeth at 18 months of age.

Lexie's blog reminded me that I never reported on Ayden's dentist appointment. We had to drive through Humberto's fury to get to the dentist (we had an arm from the category 1 hurricane that hit BR on Thursday). This was Ayden's first experience, so I was nervous to see how he would handle it. Yes, you are supposed to take your child as soon as they cut their first tooth, but I didn't, okay?! Well it turns out that he didn't even need x-rays because his teeth looked great. He had his teeth cleaned, a flouride treatment, AND got a balloon and sticker for being such a good sport.

I'm glad you and Ayden had a positive first experience...Brennan bit the dentist and the hygienist. Even now, if I mention dentist, Brennan starts to freak out...So, this is why I am glad you didn't experience something similar. Next time should be a breeze with the cute little Ayden.

i asked our dentist about when to bring jonathan and he said not until his teeth touched (around 3). so, he hasn't been.

For I second I thought, "Whoa! Ayden has gained some weight!" Then I realized almost instantly that it was a baby pic. Anyway, we're both glad Ay's teeth are in tip top shape. Aaron said that kids should have their first appt. when they reach one year old. Just to clear up any confusion.

I called a couple of Dentists about a year ago cause I did not know either & they said you can take them in earlier but they are probably fine until age three. Emma will be going for the first time very soon. I need to get on the ball!

Thanks for the info, ladies. I used the "mother knows best" approach, and we turned out okay. If I'd noticed anything peculiar, I would have gone earlier.

"Mom's Instinct" is the best approach. You know what's right for your kid. I got many peculiar looks when I started sleeping Calyn on her belly at a couple weeks old. But, it was what was right for her and me, despite all the the things "they" tell you in books, etc. It was the same with feedings. I NEVER woke her up to feed her, like "they" told you to do. You do what's right for you and your child.

Amen, sistah! I didn't wake up Ayden or Ian either. They let you know when they're hungry, quite loudly, actually.
