HELP!!

Afton won't nurse. I've tried teething tablets, Tylenol, gas drops, pumping and using a bottle, AND feeding with a spoon. She tries to latch on, then starts screaming. It started last night, and she's doing it again this afternoon. Her nose is clear. She nursed this morning on both sides at 9 or 10am, but nothing since then. What in the world can I do that I haven't tried?

ear infection?

you can also try a medicine dropper if you are worried about dehydration.

Wish I could help but I know nothing about this! I hope she starts back up soon! That picture looks rough, poor baby!

I would have to agree with your Mom on an ear infection....it sounds like you've tried absolutely EVERYTHING else. Sorry I'm not much help.

I would try tylenol and then CALL THE LACTATION CONSULTANTS (or your pediatrician). I vote with the rest of the crew....ear infection.

I'll take her to the doctor tomorrow if this continues. She's nursing now, but has never waited 8 hours to eat during the day before.

I say check her ears for infection...

Oh, I see everyone else has suggested that too.

There's not much I have to say that other people haven't said. Just that sometimes it happens, even if nothing else is wrong. Definitely call if you think she's dehydrated. And don't be too upset by the 8 hours. That's how long it would be if she slept all night, right? Good luck!

Being a guy I know my guess probably isn't worth much...

But I know that the taste of breastmilk can change depending on what you eat...perhaps you ate something she didn't like?

You might check her mouth out really good for thrush, too. That can be painful for her.

Stacy, Brady does that sometimes and did it a lot the first few weeks. Peyton also acted like that and with the two of them, it was painful gas. I would sit them on their back, resting on my bent knees, and bicycle their legs around for a bit. That usually helped pass some gas. Then, it was back to eating as if nothing had ever happened...strange!
