Oh What a Glorious Day!

Trust me, I have a list of bad things I could go on and on about, BUT one miraculous thing happened this evening that I have to share. I was going through the nightly routine with Afton. I was on the final stretch nursing her before bed, hoping that Ayden would continue with his homework and that Ian with his nekked self wouldn't poop in a corner somewhere. I was just about to put Afton in her crib when Ian came pushing his potty down the hall saying, "Wook at the toiwet, Mommy. It's got poo in it!" I hurried and put Afton down to see if he was pulling my chain or not. He was NOT! There it was. I won't go into detail about this part, but I was THRILLED and told him over and over how happy I was. Ayden had to come see it and celebrate with us. We flushed it down the real toilet and I told Ian if he keeps this up he will get a BIG PRIZE. Then a few minutes later HE POOPED AGAIN! Apparently he wasn't finished the first go 'round. More excitement, more flushing, more candy. Oh what a great night after only two days of training. Again, I don't expect perfection, but Ian is definitely on the right track. Tomorrow I'm going to put training undies on him. I don't want to use pullups. These are just cotton undies made a little thicker to absorb any accidents. It will drip down his legs if he goes on himself, which I'm hoping will quickly teach him to go to the potty like he has been doing so well bare bottomed. We'll see if he can rise up to the next challenge. I'm so excited. Who knew that poop could be so exciting?!

Yay! You're so close to having only one kid in diapers. Want to potty train Grant for me? ;)

What a big boy! Mike's sister's youngest just runs around in his undies and goes off the back porch most of the time! Sounds like Ian is a pro!

hey where did you buy those training undies? Jase isn't quite ready yet, but i'm thinking a couple months after new baby comes, he will be. i've heard pullups are NOT the thing to use--except maybe at night. man i am NOT looking forward to pee/poo accidents in my house! ARGH! hopefully it will go as well for me as it is for you :)

Amiee, the undies are made by Gerber and come in a 3 pack. I got mine at Target near the packs of baby onesies/pjs, cloth diapers, and socks. I never saw any at Walmart, but they might have them where you are. There are also vinyl undies to put over the cloth ones to prevent leakage, but Ian isn't a fan of those. I think I might have to use Pull-ups for when we go in public until he gets the hang of this a little better.

poop is always exciting :)
and i didn't have training pants for jackson, but i did occasionally put a panty liner in his underwear before going grocery shopping or somewhere. i'd do it so he didn't see but it helped catch a little of the accidents.
good luck!

I don't want to go through that again, but it will be nice to never have to change diapers again!
