I made Afton this dress from a pattern by myself with only a few phone calls to my mom and a little research online-I didn't know what "basting" meant and had a vague memory of "selvage" that turned out to be correct. Mom talked me through a few things that I had frustrations with. Probably about 5 phone calls total. I had a lot of interruptions with a husband out of town and 2 sick kids running fever and needing breathing treatments every 4 hours. At one point the dress mysteriously traveled into the fridge. In the end I was so proud of myself to have a finished product just in time for V-Day. I might look into making a little red cardigan, some matching crib shoes, and some sort of head decoration. First I have to get this house back in order.

That's so cute! Way to go. I have no clue how to read a pattern, but I wish I did. I've been wanting to sew clothes for a while now. Maybe you can teach me!
You'd pick it up easy with all of the crafty things you've sewn already.
