Writers Guild Of America

This might be old news for those of you who have cable, but I just read online that all writers who are a part of the Writers Guild Of America are on strike which threatens to bring a lot of shows off the air; some now, some after they expire of the material they already have. We only watch PBS kids and Heroes on Monday night, so I'm not upset at all over this. In fact, I welcome the cancellation of all soap operas! Cable is the devil and it turns us all into zombies. Josh has a presidency meeting for Elders Quorum on Thursday, and his secretary was murmuring because he'll miss two different shows that he "can't miss". That's just sad. I would love to hear your thoughts and concerns about this strike which will surely shake our nation. (Kidding!)

I'm not too worried. I do enjoy some of those Thursday night shows, but the writers would have to be on strike for a couple of months for it to affect them.

I agree about Soap Operas...junk!

when we moved to omaha, we got cable so bart could watch LSU...i can't wait for football season to be over, because it is SO CANCELED when it is. then we can go back to our old routine of PBS kids or nothing...ahhh, the good old days.
oh, and i like a few thursday night shows, too, but i wouldn't miss a church meeting or grumble about it...although i did once schedule a meeting on a tuesday night instead of wed. so that i could watch the premiere of pushing daisies....

i get mesmerized by the TV easliy, and it steals all my time from me. the same goes for video and computer games. so, we don't have cable, a gaming system, or computer games like The Sims. My only "shows" are dancing with the stars and the Daily Show. i will miss the daily show if it stops broadcasting but i'll live. and DWTS shouldn't be an issue. this season i have found myself slipping towards grumbling if i miss DWTS... but hopefully that will pass soon.

I have to admit - I pushed David into getting cable when we bought the house. My excuse was that we needed Disney Channel for the kids (and I liked TLC and HGTV). It seems like all we watch now is Disney - Ainsly loves Little Einsteins and Mickey's Clubhouse. She gets very upset if she doesn't get to watch TV as soon as she wakes up. And I must confess, I love Hannah Montana and Suite Life of Zack and Cody - I do grumble if I miss one of their new shows - maybe we should pull the plug for a while...

We don't have cable and never have. Emma watches PBS and Disney/Pixar DVDs & that is enough for me. I watch Prison Break & Heros & Bachelor and Top Model & Beauty & Geek and Desprate Housewives (but I watch all those shows on the internet and have missed a few) I usually do that when I am bored or if the kids are napping . I am sure it would be good for all of us if they stayed on strike. My brother in law and there family don't watch TV at all and they have 3 young boys. Although they are aloud to watch movies. And my father in law is the same way. I am not sure about that cause I like to sit and relax to watch my shows but I am sure it works great for them. Just some thoughts.

Our tv actually broke Monday. We have another one, but it's a pain to get it hooked up to cable or move it. I try not to get too caught up in tvland. I have my Thursday night shows that I love, and Kailey likes to watch a couple of Disney and PBS shows. I had heard about the writer's strike, but haven't kept up with it. I'm not too worried.
